The father of bullying

The father of bullying

By Ryan Brousson

Bullying. Has it happened to you? Have you ever bullied someone else? I am sure we have all experienced or participated in some form of bullying. Sadly we live in a world that contains bullying: physical, psychological, spiritual.

Sin results in these terrible ways of treating others. But where does bullying come from? It comes from the first bully: Satan, the father of all types of bullying. From the very beginning Satan was a bully. He has bullied us into thinking that God is not a God of love.

He pushes us to think that we are not good enough, that we have no worth. He coerces us to do things that we do not want to do. He is exclusive in his “close circle.” You do what he says or else. He makes us think he has all the power.

This is very different from what God does. God is not a bully. He does not force or coerce people. He gives us free choice. If we ask Him, He will change our hearts so that we can overcome the father of bullying. He says, “I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5).

If you have been bullied, God says He is there for you and He will bring you through it. If you have bullied, God will change your heart to stop. And if you witness bullying, God will give you courage to help the helpless.
