THE SCHOOL OF LIFE

By Ptr. Jesame von Tronchin

The fall season is officially starting soon. I realized it when an email from a popular coffee shop landed in my inbox earlier this week announcing that Pumpkin Spice was back on the menu. Naturally, I couldn’t resist treating myself to a pumpkin spice cold brew the very next day, just before heading to a school visitation.

But it isn’t just the start of a new season—it’s also the beginning of a new school year. Families are returning from vacations, teachers are carefully preparing classrooms and lesson plans, and parents are nervously excited as some watch their little ones step into school for the very first time. New seasons carry a certain freshness, but they also bring a measure of uncertainty.

The same is true for the seasons of our lives. Each new chapter brings with it both anticipation and unknowns—whether it’s stepping into a new school year, beginning a new job, moving to a new place, or even entering a fresh spiritual chapter. In the midst of these transitions, it’s important to pause and remember that God is not just present—He is active. He doesn’t merely walk alongside us; He goes before us, shaping the path, opening doors, and preparing the way even before we take the first step.

And just as students rely on preparation, guidance, and trust to navigate their studies, we too are called to lean on God as we step into the uncharted territories of life. Seasons may shift, circumstances may change, but His faithfulness remains unshaken. He is our steady anchor and the constant who carries us through every transition. And so we hold to this promise:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6
