Worship has always been at the centre of the great cosmic conflict. The tension we continue to struggle with is between focus on God or on self. Worship is a recognition of power. We see the power struggle continue when Jesus is tested by Satan during His 40 days in the wilderness. Thank God, Jesus proved His Almighty power there, and in His victory over death in resurrection.
John told us to “Fear God and give Him glory because the hour of His judgment has come. Worship Him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water” (Rev. 14:7). The three angels’ messages found in this Bible passage reveal the final spiritual battle will be around the issue of worship. People either live subject to their love of power, or they live subject to the Power of Love. Who or what has ultimate power in your life?
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed ” (Rom. 12:1, 2)
