Words of Hope – Unity and Diversity

By Pastor Rhoda Klein Miller

It’s one of our favourite worship services of the year, MultiCultural Sabbath! Many first time visitors to OAC comment on its multi-cultural diversity. Instead of creating a church for one cultural affiliation, we strive to find ways to consider and blend every unique perspective. It can be challenging but we love the mosaic! The unique languages, fashion and cuisine of our various heritages indicates the rich multi-faceted aspects of our creative God.

The Bible speaks of heaven including a vast number of people “from every nation, tribe, people and language” who will be praising God (Revelation 7:9). The principle of multiculturalism is seen in the Bible’s teaching that race, culture, and gender do not separate us in God’s eyes (Galatians 3:28; Romans 1:16). Despite differences in heritage, we all united in belonging to God’s family. We welcome you to that family with open arms and grateful hearts.
