Words of Hope – Give & Gain

Computer programmers might make the best relationship counsellors! They understand coding inputs for desired outputs. How would your relationships and Christian walk change if you asked yourself “what can I give?” instead of “what’s in it for me?”.  The commitment of true love is choosing to give “for better or worse”, despite the risk of loss. Jesus demonstrated this perfect love because without the guarantee we would love Him back, He became human flesh, suffered and died for our sakes (Rom 5:8). He risked it all and could have lost all.  The most abundant life we can experience follows a shift in our definition of gains and losses. Jesus encouraged us to “build up our treasure in heaven” rather than earthly treasures that easily fade or are lost (Matt. 6:19-20) In other words, “give what you cannot keep to gain what you cannot lose.” – Jim Elliot.
