The transition from one year to the next is often a time for reflection. Have you paused to count your blessings in 2017?
During a conversation this week that was spiralling downward with complaints, criticism, and negativity, I ask if we could shift gears and share the highlights of the past year we were grateful for. Quickly the tone changed, followed by grins and nodding heads. Maybe this has been one of the more difficult years for you and you find doubts about God’s goodness creeping into your heart. It’s ok, God is so good He even gives us an extra measure of faith
when we struggle to trust Him (Ephesians 2:8). You only need to ask for it like the father who met Jesus in Mark 9:14-29.
The song lyrics by Laura Story remind us sometimes the greatest disappointments and aching of this life, reveal a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy. The trials and storms of life can be God’s mercies in disguise. Without them, we’d fail to seek His presence and realize He is mighty to save! He will prove Himself faithful and you will find the ability to give God thanks and praise in all circumstances (1 Th. 5:18).
