“God saw that it was very good!” are the words which bring the Genesis 1 creation poem to a ringing climax. The phrase is a sublime divine endorsement, loving words really, punctuating the truth about the creation of humankind and the words serve as a clear embrace of the beauty, value, and completeness of human beings
How does it make you feel that God’s clear intention was for our wholeness and health?
The intended state of wholeness and health as expressed in Genesis 1, stands in stark contrast to our world, which is unfortunately often marked with pain, sickness, disease, and inescapably, death. Jesus entered this hurting world and it is unmistakable that He set out to undo all the pain, sickness, and death that had interrupted what His creation had originally established. The Gospels record that he was “moved with compassion” and then went about healing and restoring and returning His world to a better place.
As we mentioned last week, OAC’s leadership retreat in January identified our desire to embrace the same Jesus impulse that activated his whole 3.5 year ministry. Our clear focus for the next stretch is to craft everything we do and say to espouse the health and wellness of all around.
