Words of Hope – Ashia Lennon

Basking in His redeeming love…This week I saw THE most beautiful sight. It was glorious; it is the kind of scene that even Shakespeare couldn’t dream up writing about. It was 12 enthusiastic beaming little faces thrilled at the sight of their floating Popsicle stick boats. The sheer joy and screams…  (Where are the kids’ secret vocal lessons meeting for those kinds of banshee wailing skills?) The kids were stocked at seeing the pond with ducks and even better, they got to put their art work and watch it as it set sail.I thought about how much they trusted us as we journeyed from the church building to the pond to set their boats a sail. Their feet significantly shorter made the otherwise 15 minute journey seem that much longer and tedious. Nevertheless, they
trusted and believed without seeing, that we had their best interest at heart and there lay a pond awaiting them. They walked and hopped and skipped as they held our hands, while we led them along pathways and sidewalks. The encounter reminded me a lot of Psalms 28:7  it says “The LORD [is] my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song will I praise him.”

It is so sweet and comforting to know, that our father who walks alongside us, He who never leaves us is our immediate help. Just as we walked beside our campers, rested from the sun’s glare with them, gave them water to refresh them so too our father is our keeper. By trusting in His unfailing love and devotion for us we can rest assured that we will make it through our journey holding on to His hand and following his lead. As in His word in which He spoke about that which lies ahead, that it will be fulfilled in joy unspeakable with shouts and uncontainable childlike banshee wails. Our faces will be glowing… beaming from the light of finally being in our father’s presence, and our hearts filled with songs of our redemptive journey.
