Words of Hope

Words of Hope

By Pastor Rhoda Klein Miller

As a child of the 80’s in a home with only two TV channels, I grew up rebelling against bed-time to watch Cheers and Night Court. Actor Harry Anderson who starred on both these shows, died this week. The news had me feeling sentimental and nostalgic.
Anderson played Judge Harry Stone, the youngest judge in New York City history. The outgoing mayor had a list of prospective candidates for the position but as he made the calls, none responded. He called every name on the list until the last. Harry picked up the phone, so he got the job.
Unlike worldly positions, there is no rank or competition when it comes to the role and purpose God has for you. It doesn’t matter if you’re the most qualified or least. What matters is that our names are on the list and we say yes when He calls. How are you keeping your availability open for God? Pray for opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus, and invite people to experience His transformative love.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: “Who should I send? Who will go for Us?” I said: “Here I am. Send me”.  Isaiah 6:8
